Driver: Gordon Johncock – Hastings, MI (USA)
Year(s): 1983
This bold race-used helmet belonged to 1982 Indianapolis 500 Champion Gordon Johncock during his 1983 CART IndyCar campaign with Patrick Racing. Known for his stoic demeanor and relentless competitiveness, Johncock entered the ’83 season as one of the sport’s veteran stars—and this helmet reflects the classic era of American oval dominance.
Finished in a vibrant blue with a fluorescent orange center stripe, the helmet features prominent “GORDY” lettering on both sides, as well as original sponsor branding including STP, Valvoline, and Goodyear. The BELL branding and intact USAC tech sticker (C-82 #00581) authenticate its competition use. Wear marks, visor residue, and attached comms equipment all add to its preserved race-used condition.
